What’s for dinner?

Apparently nothing! Over the last week, I only cooked one time… yikes! That’s definitely no good. Part of that time was our lovely getaway and the delicious meals made for us in Mendocino. We didn’t eat out all those other nights, but we did have a lot of cheese and bread. A lot!

Or we did something like last night when we stopped for a beer and a snack, and then weren’t really hungry enough to warrant a whole meal.

But, still. I think I might be forgetting how to cook. I made spaghetti on Sunday, but it was disappointing. So much so that I didn’t even take a picture. I made three mistakes that lead to the underwhelming meal, and all of them lead directly back to being patient while cooking. I decided not to take the trouble to give the tomatoes a whirl in the food processor since they were diced already – bad, bad idea! I didn’t keep the pasta water even though I could see that the sauce was dry. And I added the sauce to the pasta rather than the other way around. Seems like a small thing, but I think it helps the noodles separate a little bit.

As promised, the no cooking will continue for a little bit longer. Tonight we’re going to the Giants game and tomorrow I leave for a weekend in St. Louis! So, I’ll have to work hard to find some homemade food to photograph. Don’t give up on me though – I am still dedicated to cooking. I love it and it makes me feel so accomplished when I put a meal on the table for us to enjoy together. Be patient with me, and I will work on being patient while I cook :)

Until next time <3
