I’ve mentioned before that we go from “summer” to summer and then to the rainy season. But in reality, fall here is pretty similar to those beautiful Indian summer days that most of the places I’ve ever lived experience. It just happens a little bit more often here. This weekend was no exception.
Friday and Saturday I spent time with my dear friend and her mom. They were having a shopping getaway in SF, and I tagged along. It was really great to hang out with these two and observe their incredible relationship.
Saturday start.
En route observation.
Sunday we participated in a quintessential fall activity: apple picking. We recruited some friends and drove north to Sonoma county. We weren’t sure which weather we were going to get… it was gray and foggy in the city and for much of the drive. But blue skies emerged and it was beautiful. We went to Gabriel Farm, and I’d happily recommend heading there. It was the perfect sized farm and the workers were friendly. They also do something interesting. Everyone who picks has to join {or already be a member of} their CSA – a $35 fee on top of the cost of the fruit. We split it with our friends and now over the next year or longer, we can go to the farm and pick whatever fruit they have in season. We also got 6 jugs of their Asian pear + apple juice. Kind of like a loyalty program to ensure people come pick the fruit they have.
When we picked all we could carry, we headed west to Bodega Bay for lunch and a scenic drive home.
This one is for K.
After a beautiful drive through Sonoma and Marin, we were ready to return to the city.
Now, what to do with all of these apples.
Hope your weekend was enjoyable too! Until next time… <3
